The #1 advantage of using an enclosure with your CNC is to attenuate sound.
My enclosure reduces the sound levels from 70.6 dB to 53.8 dB with the router set to 1. This will vary depending on the stock, bit and cutting speeds but it is fair to say that the enclosure makes working in the shop for hours on end MUCH more bearable while the CNC router is doing its work.
Enclosures should not be used without using dust collection at the same time.
You should ALWAYS use a dust shoe with your machine and especially if you run it inside of an enclosure. The dust shoe will catch almost 100% of the fine dust and it will provide cooling air to prevent the temperatures inside the enclosure from getting too high. If you use an enclosure without dust collection the temperature and dust concentration inside will skyrocket during heavy prolonged cuts and that will wear your router brushes , rollers, and bearings much more quickly.
Below are the dimensions you will need to ensure that your enclosure is large enough to accommodate your machine. Make sure these dimensions include all accessories and the extents swept during the full range of motion of the machine.
